Abstract  The urbanization of the planning of tourism attractions has become the controversial issue in academic field. This paper believes that the planning of many tourist attractions tend to be urbanized. Domestic and foreign scholars should pay close attention to it.
This paper holds that the urbanization of the planning brings about many adverse impacts on tourist attractions such as the destruction of landscape, the weakening of artistic conception, the loss of theme, the vidation of humanism principle, and the waste of capital.
The paper believes that the fundamental reason is the widespread "scientism" based on technologism. It is embodied by the application of technology, the limitation of education, management system, and social psychology.
Finally, a series of countermeasures are put forward to prevent the urbanization of the planning of tourism attractions, namely, to enhance humanism-ecological planning, to institutionalize decision-making, to ensure the organic development of nature, and to establish two-dimensioned model of planning and operation, to upgrade planning technique by humanism, to deal with the conflict between tourism and recreation, to perfect the assessment index system of tourism planning and to establish the assessment and warning system of tourism attractions. The authors hope these countermeasures will help to maintain the sustainable development of tourism attractions.
